41 fans have been charged with hooliganism

Following the intense Istanbul derby between Besikas and Fenerbahce this weekend, 41 fans have been charged.

Turkish derbies are never dull and the one contested between Besiktas and Fenerbahce didn’t disappoint. The fans were well-behaved for the most part however a small number have been charged with several counts of hooliganism after being caught on camera carrying out illegal activities in Vodafone Park.

The group was charged with possession of prohibited substances and interrupting the match, burning a torch, throwing a substance onto the field, entering the field of play and several other crimes.

Legal action has been taken against the 41 people who have committed the violations with the punishment likely to be a ban from all football related activities for several years in addition to a monetary fine.
