Bursaspor appoint Samet Aybaba as manager

Bursaspor have appointed Samet Aybaba as their manager, the club announced today on their website.

The Crocodiles have a new manager, Samet Aybaba, the club revealed today.

The signing ceremony was held at the club’s facilities in Bursa where club president Ali Ay and members of the board of directors were present.

Aybaba and Bursaspor have agreed to a 3-year contract with an annual salary of 5 million Turkish Lira (approximately €950,000). There is no compensation clause if the manager leaves by mutual agreement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in front of reporters, president Ay said; “We want to be successful and we strive to be as successful as we can be. We’ve held several meetings with Samet several times since the end of the season, as you all know. Yesterday we met again. We’ve agreed to have him lead us into the new season. I think we will see nice days ahead.”

The 61-year-old was most recently the man in charge at Sivasspor, where he resigned after a defeat on the last day of the season against Besiktas.

During the closing of the conference, newly appointed Aybaba jokingly said “I wish it was Euros”, referring to his salary. The joke brought on laughter among those in attendance.
