Fikret Orman re-elected as Besiktas president

The Turkish businessman will continue to serve as the club’s president until 2022.

Besiktas have re-elected Fikret Orman as the club’s president, the club confirmed on Sunday.

A total of 4,899 votes were cast of which Orman received 2,882 while his opponent, Hurser Tekinoktay received 1,617 votes. There were 400 votes deemed to be either invalid or empty.

The 51-year-old, who took over the post in March 2012 with a landslide victory over former president Yildirim Demiroren, will remain the top boss of the Turkish club until 2022.

Speaking to the press and board members in attendance at the Congress on Sunday, Orman said this will be his final presidency.

“This is my last election. Besiktas will be governed by a new president in the year 2022. Together, we will fight for Besiktas for the next three years. We will continue to work in a more ambitious, vigorous way than we did when we came in 2012. We will be more radical in the new era, we will make adjustments to the budget, reduce the expenses. A new page is opened for Besiktas,” Orman said.

The Turkish businessman has won the club’s last three consecutive elections, stretching back to 2012.
