Mesut Ozil wanted by D.C. United

The Arsenal midfielder is being courted by MLS club D.C. United.

Mesut Ozil’s time in London could be coming to an end. The Arsenal midfielder recently made headlines worldwide when he and fellow teammate Sead Kolasinac were attacked by two masked and armed men on a scooter in London.

Luckily, the two players escaped unharmed but Ozil is reported to have been considering a departure from London this summer as a result of the attempted robbery.

Ozil and Kolasinac both missed Arsenal’s league opener last weekend, including the subsequent preseason friendlies after the attack, for “security reasons.”

The two attackers, who are gang members, are alleged to have threatened to kill Ozil.

The former Germany international is reported to be considering leaving London after the incident. In addition to this, he has dropped the security services of LCS Security and has signed a contract with rival company So Solid Security Services, which has allegedly caused tension for the playmaker.

D.C. United have reportedly held talks with Ozil’s agent over a transfer to the MLS this month. The American club are looking for a high-profile player to replace their former marquee player Wayne Rooney and Ozil is one of the names on their shortlist.
