Turkey wants to host UEFA EURO 2028

The Turkish Football Federation chairman says he wants the country to host EURO 2028.

Football officials in Turkey have set their next target; UEFA EURO 2028. The chairman of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), Nihat OZdemir, says he wants to see the tournament hosted in Turkey.

“We competed to be the host country of EURO 2024 but our rival, Germany, got the ticket to host the tournament. Our goal is to host EURO 2028 and we will organize it properly,” Ozdemir said on Thursday.

Turkey failed to win enough votes to host EURO 2024, narrowly losing out to Germany, who were chosen by the UEFA Executive Committee as hosts of the international tournament on September 27, 2018.

UEFA EUro 2028 will be the 18th edition of the international football tournament, held every four years and contested by European football nations.

“We are ready for the next event and the 2019 UEFA Super Cup will be a very good reference for us,” Ozdemir said, referring to the recently held 2019 UEFA Super Cup at Besiktas’ home-ground, Vodafone Park.
