Turkish club receive three-window transfer ban

Elazigspor have been banned from signing players for three transfer windows due to outstanding debt to three former players

Turkish football club Elazigspor, currently playing Turkey’s third division, have been handed a three-window transfer ban by FIFA, the club’s chairman, Selcuk Ozturk, revealed on Tuesday.

Speakting to reporters, Ozturk revealed that due to unpaid debts to three of their former players — Hamidou Traore, Sarpong and Segbefia — FIFA has decided to ban the club from signing new players for the next three transfer windows.

According to Ozturk, the club’s ban will be lifted once the debt — a total of €168,000 — is either paid off or restructured.

The club’s administration is working on solving the matter as quickly as possible, Ozturk said.
