69-year-old player transferred

While strange things do happen in Turkish football, this seems to be one of the strangest so far this year.

Serif Kunt, a 69-year-old football lover from Trabzon, was transferred to Karachay Sports Club from Osmaniye 2nd Amateur Club team.

Kunt started his football career in 1967 at Aralikspor in Trabzon and has been going strong for 50 years. The football addict worked as a coach in addition to a player during his time with Zaferspor. The 69-year-old said he aims to be a model for the younger generations.

“I play football in the morning and in the evening and I still love it. I’ve played football in the same team with my two children even. I have been participating in athletics competitions for 13 years now. I’m trying to encourage the youth to take up sports. As long as I am healthy, I will continue to play. When Osmaniye made the offer, I accepted it. My hope is to maintain my football life as long as I don’t have any health problems.”, Kunt said to the press.
