Aziz Yildirim: “Earn your money”

Fenerbahce’s president Aziz Yildirim attended a meeting which was held at the club’s facilities and told those in attendance he expects more of them.

Fenerbahce’s controversial president Aziz Yildirim held a meeting today with club manager Aykut Kocaman and 4 first-team players; volkan Demirel, Mehmet Topal, Alper Potuk and Valbuena. The reason for the meeting was to boost morale among the players after a tough two weeks which saw Fener lose their last 3 matches – 2 in the Super Lig and 1 in the Turkish Cup.

“Play like Fenerbahce. We are more capable than this. Even when we lose, we must fight. I want a team of fighters.”, Yildirim said to the players in attendance.

He also encouraged them to not give up and told them his expectations;

“Just because we lost 2 matches doesn’t mean we are hopeless. We must chase the title until the end. I don’t want a team which holds back. Everyone must earn the money they get by performing on the pitch. I want a win in the Malatya match.”

The president, who is preparing for club elections this summer, made his thoughts clear to the players as well as the manager Aykut Kocaman. The summer is expected to bring about a change of presidency within the club and a host of internal changes as president candidate Ali Koc seeks to become Fener’s next president. President Yildirim is hopeful of remaining as the man-in-charge however fans have been pushing for a change with their support for the candidate via social media.

Fenerbahce’s next match is tomorrow against Malatyaspor.
