Galatasaray have found Rodrigues’ replacement

Galatasaray might have found their replacement for outgoing winger Garry Rodrigues, who’s expected to be sold for a high sum this summer.

Reports in Turkey are suggesting that giants Galatasaray are keeping an eye on Egypt international Amr Warda ahead of the summer transfer window.

The former Al Ahly winger moved to Atromitos on loan from PAOK last summer and he has gone on to become a key player for them, scoring 11 goals and assisting five times in 25 games.

And his fine performances in the Greek Super League prompted the Turkish giants to monitor him alongside Mahmoud Trezeguet, who is also a target for manager Fatih Terim.

However, Trezeguet’s high transfer value might force the club to look for cheaper players as they are currently under financial fair play.

It’s claimed that Galatasaray are looking for a replacement for Garry Rodrigues, who is reportedly close to leaving to either Newcastle United or Everton this summer, and Rodrigues’ agent suggested Amr Warda as a replacement for his client.

The 24-year-old started his career at Egypt giants Al Ahly, but he managed to make only two appearances and not even a loan spell with Ittihad of Alexandria could save his career in Egypt.

His lack of game time resulted in him moving to Greek side Panetolikos on a free transfer. During his time there, he managed to score 10 goals and provided six assists in 45 games.

After a number of scintillating performances for Panetolikos, he switched allegiances to PAOK in January 2017, however, it didn’t quite work out for Warda at PAOK, as after just 14 appearances he was loaned out at Atromitos.

Warda is expected to be part of the Egypt squad that will travel to the 2018 World Cup, as Egypt manager Hector Cuper is a big fan of the winger and has selected him for the 2017 AFCON.
