Fenerbahce striker Fernandao sold to Al-Wehda

The Brazilian striker has moved to Saudi Arabia in a surprise transfer.

Fenerbahce have announced the departure of Brazilian striker Jose Fernandao today on their website. The transfer fee was $3 million up front.

The 31-year-old was an established first-team player and his transfer has caught many by surprise.

The Brazilian had one year left on his contract with the Yellow Canaries, who finished second last season.

The club posted the following message on their website;

“As the result of successful negotiations and agreements between the player and the Saudi Arabian side, our club has transferred Jose Fernandao to Al-Wehda Club. We thank Jose Fernandao for his services and wish him success in his new career.”

The tall forward signed for the Turkish club in 2015 from Atletico Paranaense after a successful two year loan with Super Lig rivals Bursaspor.
