Andre Ayew completes Fenerbahce move

The Yellow Canaries have made the transfer official today, after the player passed a medical in Istanbul.

Swansea City striker Andre Ayew has joined Fenerbahce on a season-long loan. The Super Lig club held a public press conference with the player, after he passed the mandatory medical examination at Liv Hospital in Istanbul at noon.

The Ghana star was alongside sporting director Damien Comolli as they answered questions from the media.

“Ayew is an important addition to a our offensive line and he was one of the top names we wanted to see in the team. he will start working tomorrow with the team,” Comolli said regarding their new player.

“We signed him on a one-year loan but we have the option to buy, if we choose to. Why did we want Andrew? Because he’s a versatile player. If you ask a player why they chose to sign with us, the answer is quite simple; to win,” he added.

The Ghana star answered questions during the conference.

The new star signing also spoke about his transfer and said to be excited to be with his new club.

“I am happy to hear that Fenerbahce has an interest in me. Fenerbahce is a very big club, I already know that. I believe in the new projects the club has planned and I wanted to be a part of it. Fenerbahce’s future is very bright. But my wish is to make Fenerbahce league champions again.”

The 28-year-old also spoke about the club’s passionate supporters, acknowledging they were another reason he chose to move to Istanbul.

Fenerbahce have paid Swansea €3.9 million for the loan while Andre will pocket €4.7 million in wages.
