Turkish clubs to earn €2.9 million for Europa League

The three Turkish clubs that have qualified for this year’s Europa League are set to earn a good chunk of money.

Despite the weak Turkish Lira affecting every sport club in Turkey at the moment, there are three clubs which will earn a considerable amount of money for playing in the Europa League to offset their losses.

Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Akhisarspor are Turkey’s representatives in the 2018/2019 Europa League and will each earn a guaranteed €2,920,000 for their participation in the group stages of the tournament.

For every victory in their respective groups, each club will earn €570,000 and for every draw, €190,000.

Besiktas qualified for the group stages on Thursday evening by beating FK Partizan 4-1 on aggregate while Akhisarspor qualified by winning the Turkish Cup last season. Fenerbahce found their way to the group stages after being eliminated in the Third Qualifying Round of the Champions League which meant they found themselves a place in Europa League as per the rules.
