Ex-Fenerbahce star Baroni to play in Northern Cyprus

The Brazilian midfielder will play for a small club in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Former Fenerbahçe midfielder Cristian Baroni has joined Merit Alsancak Yesilovaspor, a team from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, on a one-year contract.

The Brazilian, a crowd favorite, played for the Yellow Canaries between 2009 and 2014. However, his career has declined since his departure from the Istanbul club, failing to reach new heights.

The 35-year-old moved back to his native Brazil after leaving Fenerbahce after 5 seasons. Since leaving Turkey, he had short stints with Corinthians, Gremio and Sao Caetano.
