Trabzonspor strip Burak Yilmaz of captaincy

The Black Sea Storm have stripped their star striker of captaincy duties after an internal conflict.

The drama between Trabzonspor and Burak Yilmaz continues. Trabzonspor’s administration have announced their decision to strip their star striker of captaincy duty.

The decision was announced tonight by the club’s vice president Zeyyat Kafkas.

“After the meeting held tonight and speaking with our players, the decision to strip our professional football player Burak Yilmaz of club captaincy duties has been made,” the statement on the club’s website said.

Earlier this week, Burak had complained to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) over unpaid wages claiming the club have not paid him part of his wages.

In response to the official complaint, Trabzonspor’s board of directors have decided the captain’s armband should be given to someone else in the first-team.

The issue is not about money, according to the striker himself.

Earlier today, he took to his Instagram to speak his mind about the situation.

“Everyone is talking and I’m listening with amazement. Everyone claims they know it’s about money but they won’t say it. If this was related to money, this would have happened last year, but I didn’t say a word about money then and you all know what I did for the club. I will not give up my position on the matter,” his message read.

Whether  the 33-year-old will feature for Trabzonspor in their next game remains to be seen but if this is a sign of things to come, he could be headed for the exit door sooner rather than later.
