Fenerbahce suffer heavy loss in Zagreb

The Yellow Canaries were well beaten by their Croatian counterparts in their Europa League clash on Thursday.

Fenerbahce will want to forget their heavy 4-1 loss to Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb at Stadium Maximir in Zagreb on Thursday evening, in their first match of the 2018/2019 Europa League.

Just 27 minutes into the bout and the hosts were up 2-0 with goals in the 16th and 27 minute.

Defender Roman Neustaedter scored Fenerbahce’s only goal in the 47th minute, giving them a bit of home when he made the score 2-1.

However, it wasn’t meant to be as the Croatians found the back of the net twice within 3 minutes; in the 57th and 60th minute, making the score 4-1.

It seemed as if Phillip Cocu’s men were playing with little interest and never looked like a real threat.

They managed just 3 shots on target compared to Dinamo’s 6, 4 of which found the back of the net.

Dutch coach Phillip Cocu’s future is being speculated on a daily basis in Turkish media, with some fans already calling for his resignation.
