Genoa’s Criscito turned down Galatasaray offer

Italian left-back Domenico Criscito revealed he had an offer from Galatasaray this summer but ultimately decided to sign for Genoa.

Domenico Criscito, one of Genoa’s newest signings this past summer, made the revelation that he was wanted by Super Lig champions Galatasaray.

The 31-year-old said he spoke with officials from the Turkish club before deciding to return to his native Italy.

“I had meetings with Inter, Galatasaray and Sporting. I could have earned a lot more money but Genoa president Preziosi invited me to lunch in Milan where after 10 minutes I was convinced to sign for Genoa,” he explained.

The Italy international has returned to Genoa, where he played for three seasons before moving to Zenit Saint Petersburg for €11 million in 2011.
