Cocu: Ali Koc did not ask me to resign

Speaking to reporters ahead of Fenerbahce’s Europa League clash with Spartak Trnava, the Dutch coach cleared up the rumours surrounding his future.

Fenerbahce boss Phillip Cocu has denied the rumour that club president Ali Koc asked him to resign.

During the pre-match game conference ahead of the Fenerbahce-Spartak Trnava bout on Thursday, Cocu spoke sincerely about the club’s situation and said he is remaining optimistic.

“It’s a big game for all of us.”

“It’s not true. We spoke. With him and Comolli because we are together in this journey and it affects all of us. We realize what situation we are in and want to get out of it as fast as possible,” he explained.

The Dutch coach has come under heavy criticism due to Fenerbahce’s terrible start to the season. They are currently in 14th place with just 7 points after 7 games.
