Arda Turan breaks pop singer’s nose

Turkish international Arda Turan has made headlines for all the wrong reasons once again.

The Istanbul Basaksehir midfielder attacked a pop singer at an Istanbul nightclub and broke his nose on Wednesday.

According to reports in Turkey, Turkish pop singer Berkay was with his wife, Ozlem Ada Sahin, at an establishment in upscale Emirgan neighborhood where the incident happened.

Sahin told Haberturk reporter Esin Ovet that Turan said he would have liked to make a move on her if he were not married to his current wife, Aslihan Dogan.

Before Berkay had an opportunity to respond, Turan attacked the pop singer, who was then taken directly to a local hospital for surgery, Sahin said.

“What if something happened to his voice? Berkay earns a living with his voice,” she said.

Turan took to Instagram to give his side of the story, stating that it was just a misunderstanding and that both parties “sorted it out”.

This isn’t the first time the disgraced football player made headlines due to his aggressive behaviour. In May 2018, he was fined $9,200 and banned for a record 16 games after attacking an assistant referee during a Turkish Super Lig game.

The Istanbul Basaksehir midfielder was referred to the PFDK for charges such as lack of sportsmanship, insulting and threatening during the Super Lig clash with Sivasspor on May 8 earlier this year.

In 2017, he was forced to take a break from his international career after being removed from the Turkish national team by then-manager Fatih Terim for verbally and physically assaulting a Turkish sports journalist on a plane that was carrying the national team from Skopje, Macedonia to Trieste, Italy.
