Phillip Cocu sacked by Fenerbahce

The Yellow Canaries have shown the Dutch coach the exit door after a disastrous start to the season.

Fenerbahce have parted ways with Phillip Cocu after their 3-1 home loss against newly promoted Ankaragucu on Sunday evening.

It should come as no surprise as there have been multiple reports of the club’s administration having lost hope with Cocu at the helm and tonight’s loss at Ulker Stadium was the final nail in the coffin.

Shortly after their loss tonight, the club posted a short statement on their website confirming the sacking.

“First team manager Phillip Cocu has been removed from his position tonight.”

The latest loss leaves the club with  9 points in 15th place, just 1 point away from the relegation zone.

The former PSV Eindhoven boss was appointed this past summer by newly elected president Ali Koc to much fanfare, however, his tenure has been a failure with Fenerbahce having won just 2 games in the Super Lig this season.
