Akhisarspor eliminated from Europa League

Akigo waved goodbye to their debut season in Europe on Thursday evening.

Super Lig minnows Akhisarspor fought hard as they played for pride in their fifth game of group stages of this season’s Europa League.

The Turkish club traveled to a cold, snowy Russia where they lined up against Krasnodar in their Group J game on Thursday evening.

Things started off well for the away side when in the 24th minute they went ahead 1-0 through Serginho. They managed to hold on to the lead for the first 45 minutes of the duel.

However, the Russian side showed their superiority in the second half and quickly turned the game around.

Krasnodar’s Yuri Gazinski leveled for his team in the 49th minute and in the 57th minute striker Ari scored their second goal to give them the lead and make the score 2-1.

The final result leaves Akhisarspor last in their group with zero points and zero wins after five games thereby eliminating them from the tournament.
