Galatasaray receive offers for Rodrigues, Maicon

The club’s Brazilian defender and Cape Verdean winger are wanted by a club in the Arab Gulf.

Galatasaray have received offers for their winger Garry Rodrigues and defender Maicon from Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Ittihad, according to reports in Turkey.

Al-Ittihad, currently coached by former Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic, have tabled a €5 million offer for Maicon and a €8 million for Garry Rodrigues. The Super Lig side are said to be considering both bids seriously as they find themselves strapped for cash and need to raise funds in order to meet Financial Fair Play obligations.

The Arab club have been interested in Maicon since the summer and had made an offer back then but were unsuccessful in their pursuit.

The 30-year-old’s deal with Galatasaray runs until June 30, 2021. This season, he has made 20 appearances during which he scored 1 goal and assisted another.

Garry Rodrigues, on the other hand, has scored 3 goals in the 12 league appearances he has made for his team so far.

The Netherlands-born winger joined Galatasaray in 2017 from Greek club PAOK for €3.5 million. Part of that deal included a 20% future transfer fee clause which means if he were to transfer to Al-Ittihad, €1.6 million would be paid to PAOK while Galatasaray keep the remaining €6.4 million.
