Senol Gunes gives green light for Turkey job

The experienced coach has hinted that he would consider taking the Turkey job if an offer was made.

Speaking to reporters in the post-game press conference after seeing his team pick up a vital three points with their 2-1 away win against Malatyaspor on Friday, Senol Gunes has confirmed his interest in working as the head coach of the Turkey national team.

“Like I said at the beginning of the season, if it came to it, I would consider it. The club has given me permission and approval so it doesn’t look like there will be a problem. If there is something official from the Federation in the near future, this is a situation that will be settled at the end of the season. There were these kinds of meetings. When there is something, we will announce it. It could happen. We are waiting for now,” he said.

Gunes has widely been reported to be the Turkish Football Federation’s favourite for the job after Mircea Lucescu was shown the door last week.
