Basaksehir coach responds to Besiktas job link

The Turkish coach has been linked with the managerial role at Besiktas.

Istanbul Basaksehir coach Abdullah Avci has cooled the reports linking him with Besiktas, who are looking to replace the outgoing Senol Gunes at the end of the season.

Avci, who is on course to lift his and Basaksehir’s first ever Super Lig title, has been praised for the consistent and efficient style of football his team have been playing throughout the entire season, conceding the least amount of goals this season.

After 26 league games, Avci’s men have conceded just 13 goals so far this season.

Speaking to reporters about the job speculation, he said;

“The fact that my name is being linked with other clubs indicates that we are doing very good things here, as a club and as a team. It is gratifying. Our objective is to make Basaksehir champions and a role model. It shows we are doing the right things on and off the pitch. I have a five-year contract here. This is my home and my family. It wouldn’t be right for me to say anything more. The speculation shows that we are doing the right things and these things make us happy,” he said before changing the topic.
