Bursaspor are €81.5m in debt

The Green Crocodiles, like their Super Lig opponents, are heavily in debt.

Turkish Super Lig football club Bursaspor’s total debt is reported to be 491, 631,609 Turkish Lira (TL) — approximately €81.5 million.

The latest figure was announced by the club’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board Yalcin Cambaz at the General Assembly in Bursa held by the club earlier this week.

According to the the figures presented by Cambaz, the breakdown of the debt is as follows;

Commercial debt – 45,859,984 TL
Public debt – 39,743,774 TL
Administrative debt – 107,797,113 TL
Financial debt – 101,316,269 TL
Sporting activity debt – 159,923,336 TL
Other debts – 36,991,133 TL

The club’s president, Ali Ay, also spoke at the meeting and reminded those in attendance that the club was €100 million in debt when he took over.

“I just want this from you; there are 8 weeks left, let’s dock the ship for the next 8 weeks and then we will decide what to do at the end. As of today, 67 million of the debt is due to players and technical staff. When we came, the debt was €100 million. Those friends of ours that are working with us to solve this know what we are dealing with. We didn’t get the club with roses. We got it with 100 million euro in debt. As a person and an administration, we contributed a lot to the club. Unfortunately, we were not successful sporting wise but there are many reasons for this,” the president said as he spoke candidly.
