Akhisarspor win, Galatasaray stumble in Turkish Cup

The first leg of the Turkish Cup semi-finals sees Akhisarspor with one foot in the final while Galatasaray are in danger of being knocked out.

Super Lig minnows Akhisarspor have continued their impressive run in the Turkish Cup with their 1-0 victory over Umraniyespor on Wednesday in the first leg of their Turkish Cup clash.

The home side’s Congolese striker, Jeremy Boklia, scored the winning goal in the 86th minute of the duel.

The day before, Tuesday, saw Galatasaray host Malatyaspor in the other semi-final.

The Lions produced another lackluster performance as they missed several opportunities to take the lead and had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

The return legs of the semi-finals will be played on April 24-25.

Akhisarspor, last season’s Turkish Cup winners, will be hoping to repeat their success from last year by advancing to the final, once again.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray will need to produce an improved performance in the return leg if they want to finish the season with silverware as the Turkish Cup remains the only realistic possibility for them this season.
