Galatasaray to make more signings

The Lions are still working tirelessly on improving their squad before the new season begins.

Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray are preparing for a strong start to the new season. Despite making eight new signings already, the Turkish club are hoping to bring in at least two more players.

Coach Fatih Terim is overseeing the team’s pre-season training schedule as he and his staff put each player through intensive training in their camp in the Seefeld region of Austria where they have been training for over 10 days.

Galatasaray played a friendly with Bundesliga outfit Augsburg on Thursday but were unimpressive as they succumbed to a 4-1 defeat. The club’s only goal came from Omer Bayram in the second half.

The club are hoping to sign at least one more player before their upcoming Turkish Super Cup final against Akhisarspor on August 7.

Newly signed defender Valentine Ozornwafor is expected to be loaned in order to make room for a more experienced centre-back as the youngster gains experience while striker Mbaye Diagne’s position in the team remains uncertain.

The Senegal striker has a three-year contract remaining with The Lions but the club’s management are reported to be open to offers in the €13 million range as they look to explore other alternatives.

Colombian striker Radamel Falcao is one of the names widely linked with Galatasaray. The player is reported to be open to a transfer to Istanbul. Galatasaray are adamant on signing the player without paying his current club, AS Monaco, a transfer fee, however.

Two other names linked with a switch to Galatasaray and known to be on the club’s shortlist are midfielders Deniz Turuc and Emre Mor. Both players are expected to join the team before the new season kicks off.
