Trabzonspor have pulled off arguably the signing of the summer. English striker Daniel Sturridge has joined the Super Lig club on a two-year contract, the Turkish club announced on Wednesday.
According to the statement released on Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Trabzonspor have added Sturridge to their squad for two seasons with an optional one-year extension.
The 29-year-old, who was a free agent after being released by Liverpool in June, will be paid €1.5 million-per-year and will also receive a €2 million signing bonus every season. His agent will be paid 8 percent of the contracted salary for his services facilitating the transfer which equals to roughly €120,000.
If the player’s contract is extended for a further year, Sturridge will receive another signing bonus. Trabzonspor have completed the player’s transfer without a transfer fee as the striker was a free agent.
Sturridge’s arrival to the Northeastern Turkish club is the second big-name signing this summer after the transfer of former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.
