Falcao greeted by thousands of Galatasaray fans

The Colombian striker was welcomed by over 25,000 Galatasaray fans at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul on Sunday evening.

Thousands of Galatasaray fans flocked to Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport on Sunday to catch a glimpse of their new striker, Radamel Falcao, who has agreed terms with the Turkish Super Lig champions.

Over 25,000 Galatasaray fans were present at the airport to welcome their new forward.

The Colombian striker arrived at the airport via a private plane from France with his wife Lorelai Taron and their two daughters alongside Galatasaray Vice President Abdurrahim Albayrak and the club’s Administrative Director Sukru Hanedar.

Shortly after emerging from the airport, Falcao celebrated with the large crowd.

Falcao looks on as he is welcomed by thousands of Cim Bom fans in Istanbul.

Speaking to the club’s TV channel, GSTV, he said is very happy to be a part of such a big club.

“I thank God for giving me the opportunity to wear such a beautiful jersey. I am unbelievably happy,” Falcao said.

After weeks of speculation, Galatasaray have managed to capture the signature of their top target of the summer, Radamel Falcao. The club announced the transfer on Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) on Sunday.

The 33-year-old will undergo a medical and officially sign a two-year deal with the club on Monday. The contract includes an optional one-year extension.

According to reports in Turkey, Falcao will receive an annual salary of €5 million-per-year. Galatasaray have managed to sign the striker on a free transfer, which means they did not pay AS Monaco a transfer fee. However, the Turkish club will give 60% of the player’s future sale fee to the French club.

Galatasaray have also announced the signing of another striker on Sunday evening; Romanian forward Florin Andone from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 26-year-old will join Galatasaray on a season-long loan from the English Premier League outfit.
