Eredivisie club Feyenoord have signed Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup on a short loan until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old will pass the necessary medical exam on Wednesday before being officially revealed by the Rotterdam-based football club.
Speaking to reporters at Istanbul Airport on Tuesday before his departure for the Netherlands, Ozyakup said he hopes to re-discover his performance while on loan at Feyenoord.
“Iam going to Holland to be happy and peaceful, both, on and off the field. After all, I was born and raised there. My family is there. I’m going to a place where I feel safe. Hopefully, it will be good for me. If I do well, maybe I will earn Besiktas money. Or maybe, i will return and continue,” the Turkey international said.
Ozyakup acknowledged his drop in performance for the past few seasons to the reporters at the airport and said he hopes the loan at Feyenoord will serve him well.
Feyenoord will cover half of the player’s wages — €2 million per season with The Black Eagles — while Besiktas will cover the other half for the duration of the loan.
