Rodallega: I was close to leaving but…

The tall striker spoke of his desire to move back to his homeland but talks broke down in the final moments.

Hugo Rodallega spoke publicly about his desire to move back to Colombia in the winter transfer window however the move never materialized.

The 32-year-old forward, currently playing for Trabzonspor, revealed to media sources he was close to leaving for Atletico Nacional; “I was in contact with them on many occasionas, as well as my manager, but we could not reach a deal due to the termination clause in my current contract.”.

Hugo continued to express his desire by saying;” I have a very good relationship with president Marulanda and the people of Atletico Nacional. They wanted me before my arrival in Deportivo Cali.”. He went on to explain how he made great efforts to leave Trabzon.

The Colombian has started only 3 games this season for Trabzonspor and has been moved down the pecking order due to the consistency of fellow teammate Burak Yilmaz.

The Colombian transfer window closed on February 9th.
