Senol Gunes: We can beat Bayern

Senol Gunes is leading Besiktas into one of their most difficult games of the season.

Speaking to UEFA reporters, Senol Gunes answered a host of questions about tomorrow’s first leg against Bayern Munich.

“We know Bayern are the favourites of the tournament. For us, this will be a tough test but we want to push them as far as possible.”, said the experienced coach.

Gunes continued to speak about the highly anticipated fixture; “We also have good players. The only thing I want from my players is to show what they are capable of, their character and their skill.”

The former goalkeeper finished off by saying; “If we advance from this round, of course it will be fantastic. But even if we don’t, it’s not the end of the world.”

Besiktas have never advanced this far in the Champions League before and will be watched on by a large percentage of Turkey’s 80 million populace. Bayern Munich on the other hand, have won the tournament five times in their 117-year history.
