Talisca explains reason for contract extension

Following the controversy-marred Turkish Cup derby between Besiktas and Fenerbahce tonight, Anderson Talisca explained what went down and his reason for the new contract extension with Benfica.

Anderson Talisca recently signed a contract extension with Benfica and the Besiktas star wanted to clear the air after a very intense battle between Besiktas and Fenerbahce in the first-leg of the Turkish Cup semi-final at Vodafone Park.

“It was a big fight. We stopped playing football and played Fenerbahce’s game. Instead of playing football, they began to commit fouls and see cards. And we fell for it.”, explained the attacking midfielder.

“After losing on Sunday, it put pressure on Fenerbahce. They wanted to win today and maybe this put pressure on them. We finished the match well and didn’t lose.”, he added.

Talisca also gave his explanation as to why the new contract extension with Benfica took place; “I’m happy here, I didn’t want to leave. There were problems between the clubs. There were threatening situations against me and so if I didn’t sign, I would have been able to play only in the Turkish Super Lig. I had no choice but to sign. President Fikret Orman is aware of the situation.”

It seems all but certain this will be the Brazilian’s final season with the Black Eagles after arriving in August of 2016.
