Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo has been impressed by the atmosphere and fans he’s come across as a Besiktas player.

Besiktas striker Alvaro Negredo played a key role in his team’s most recent match, which was against Genclerbirligi, where they won 1-0 to remain in the chase for the league title. As he was substituted, he received a standing ovation by the club’s fans who have nicknamed him “The Matador”.

The Spaniard had great things to say about the fans of the club who have made a big impression on him since his arrival.

“In my career as a football player, I have never played in front of fans who know football so well. During my stressful moments they showed me a lot of support and for that, I thank them.”, he was quoted as saying.

The 32-year-old has scored 5 goals in 25 league appearances for the Black Eagles since signing for the club in August 2017 from Valencia. He has found the back of the net more times in the Turkish Cup than the league, with 7 goals in 5 appearances.

Besiktas are currently sitting in 2nd place in the league and are just three points behind league leaders Galatasaray.
