Denayer wants to remain at Galatasaray

Jason Denayer, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has expressed his desire to remain permanently at Galatasaray beyond his current loan transfer.

Manchester City defender Jason Denayer has expressed his desire to stay at Galatasaray on a permanent basis after his loan deal ends.

Denayer has been at City since 2013 but is yet to make a senior appearance for the club and he has been loaned out for the past four seasons to Galatasaray, Celtic and Sunderland.

This is Denayer’s second spell at Gala and he seems to be settled with life in Istanbul, with the Belgium international open to staying in Turkey.

“If an offer comes in from Galatasaray, ‘why not?’ I say,” Denayer told BeinSports.

The 22-year-old is on course to win a league title this season, with Galatasaray sitting at the top of the league table in a closely contested title race.

Denayer joined Galatasaray before the close of the summer transfer window, having hoped for a move to Lyon during pre-season.

However, Denayer felt City were trying to push him into a loan move to Girona and he was unhappy with the demands being placed for a permanent transfer.

Denayer told Sport Voetbalmagazine in July last year: “Man City are not keen on selling me, or only against unreasonable terms for potential buyers: a buy-back clause for almost the same price as the selling price.

“That means that clubs aren’t keen on signing me permanently and prefer to take me on loan. I’ve nothing against a new loan deal, but I want to choose my destination. Lyon would be the perfect place for me. An ambitious club in an attractive league.

“The club and I had already reached a personal agreement, but City are vetoing a move and are pushing me to Girona… we’ll see what’ll happen in the coming weeks. If the situation is not resolved, I will go to Girona, but not heartily.”
