Mircea Lucescu struggling with Turkey

Turkey’s coach Mircea Lucescu is having a tough time getting results with the team.

Mircea Lucescu is under-performing with Turkey and his days at the helm could be coming to an end.

The Romanian manager has a successful time when he was in charge of Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk followed by a a one year tenure at Zenit Saint Petersburg, where he also achieved success.

However, since taking over as manager of Turkey’s national team in August 2017, the 72-year-old has struggled to deliver.

His arrival was met with excitement by Turkish media and fans alike but the results speak for themselves;

Turkey’s last 10 games;

Ukraine – Turkey: 2-0
Turkey – Croatia: 1-0
Turkey – Iceland: 0-3
Finland – Turkey: 2-2
Romania – Turkey: 2-0
Turkey – Albania: 2-3
Turkey – Ireland: 1-0
Montenegro – Turkey: 2-2
Turkey – Iran: 2-1
Turkey – Tunisia: 2-2

The national team has lost 4 games, drawn 3 and won just 3 so far.

Lucescu has not managed to get two consecutive wins with Turkey yet. In the 10 games he’s been in charge of, the team managed to score 12 goals while conceding 18.

It remains to be seen whether he can turn things around.
