Cuneyt Cakir to call shots in Nigeria-Argentina clash

Turkish referee Cakir will officiate the crucial fixture between Nigeria and Argentina on Tuesday June 26th.

One of FIFA’s most experienced referees, Cuneyt Cakir, has been selected to call the shots in the final game of Group D. The fxiture will take place at 9:00PM local time in St. Petersburg Stadium in St. Petersburg, Russia.

His assistants will be Bahattin Duran and Tarik Ongun. The fourth official will be Bjorn Kuipers from the Netherlands.

Cuneyt’s first game of the tournament was Morocco versus Iran on Friday June 15th, during which he became the first Turkish referee to be selected for two World Cup tournaments.

He also played a part in the Russia-Egypt bout as a fourth official.
