Bursaspor financial crisis continues

The Green Crocodiles continue to suffer financial hardship, with players leaving the club for financial reasons.

Bursaspor has been crippled by financial hardship for the past two season and it seems the upcoming season will be another difficult year for the Super Lig club.

The club is in such bad shape financially that it’s having a hard time signing players due to the very limited wage and transfer budget at their disposal.

On June 23rd, Romanian striker Bogdan Stancu filed a complaint with FIFA against the Turkish club over unpaid wages. The player is waiting for the football authority’s decision on July 23rd, when he is expected to have his contract terminated according to FIFA’s rulebook regarding players who have not been paid their salary for several months.

Stancu is reported to be close to signing for rivals Alanyaspor however nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Another player on the verge of leaving Bursa is Brazilian defender Titi. Goztepe have been linked with the player as well as Fluminense from his native homeland.

In addition to these two players leaving on a free transfer, English defender John Bostock has been sold to Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse for approximately €700,000, just six months after the player signed from Ligue 2 club Lens for a mere €175,000.

With the transfer window open, the club will have to figure out a way to replace these players, including star playmark Batalla who left at the end of last season, without digging themselves into further debt.
