Johan Djourou leaves Antalyaspor, signs for SPAL

The Swiss defender has moved to Italy after terminating his contract with the Super Lig club.

Johan Djourou has moved to Italy and will continue his career in the Serie A.

The 31-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the Italian club, with a possible extension for another year if certain criteria are met.

SPAL club president Walter Mattioli, who was present alongside their new signing during the press conference, expressed his involvement in the negotiation process and revealed they did not pay a transfer fee since Djourou had terminated his contract with Antalyaspor.

The Swiss international, who has made 75 appearances for the Switzerland national team, played for Arsenal and Hamburger SV before signing for Antalyaspor in August 2017.

He represented his nation in five major tournaments including the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
