Kweuke refuses contract termination at Rizespor

The Cameroonian striker has rejected the club’s offer to mutually terminate his contract.

Caykur Rizespor are looking to off-load their striker Leonard Kweuke but are having difficulties convincing their player.

The Super Lig club released a statement on their website today addressing the matter with their player.

“Kweuke, who has four years left on his contract and has not been able to make a contribution to our team for a long time because of his health problems, has not accepted our contract termination offer. He has not contribued to his team and has demanded to be compensated his salary for the next four years.. Contractually, we have to pay some of this compensation on July 30th. The amount that Kweuke requested is much higher than the amount covered by our sponsor, Caykur,” the statement read.

The 31-year-old, while a club favourite at Rizespor, is going through a rough period after constant injuries and issues with the club’s management.

The Cameroon international is the club’s all-time top scorer with 58 goals in all competitions.
