Erzurumspor terminate Mert Nobre’s contract

The Brazilian veteran is a free agent after being let go by the club.

Erzurumspor have terminated the contracts of their captain Mert Nobre and Burhan Eser with immediate effect, the club said in a statement they released on Monday evening.

After reports of issues between the two players and the club’s management, the administration has decided to release the players from their contracts.

Club spokesperson told the press they fined Nobre €4,166 and Eser 23,333 Turkish Lira for “failing to take part in training, not following the club’s schedule and being late”.

Mert, a well known name in Turkey having spent several memorable years with Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Kayserispor, disputed the events on his Instagram page with detailed explanations of his version of the events, claiming unpaid wages and broken promises by the club’s administration.
