Atiba Hutchinson extends contract

Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson has agreed to extend his stay with the Black Eagles by signing a one year contract extension.

Canadian international Atiba Hutchinson has put pen to paper on a new one-year-deal. The 35-year-old has been a key player for the Istanbul club ever since making the move from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven 5 years ago but was unable to agree to terms with Besiktas on a new deal until now.

Hutchinson’s contract expired last month, however, he had made it known it was his desire to remain with the club. Manager Senol Gunes was also in favour of keeping the player due to his consistent performances and after meeting with the club’s management, have agreed terms with the Canadian star.

The new contract will see him pocket €750,000 for the 2018/2019 season.

A few clubs were reported to be have approached the player, including Goztepe, but were ultimately unsuccessful in their pursuit.

Atiba has made a total of 194 appearances for Besiktas, during which he has scored 9 goals and made 15 assists.
