Yasin Oztekin: Hopefully I’ll score against Galatasaray

The ex-Galatasaray winger now plays for Goztepe and is looking to score against his former club.

Yasin Oztekin has a score to settle with his former club Galatasaray. The winger feels he deserved a contract extension but was ultimately let go last month.

Having signed for Goztepe, the 31-year-old is looking forward to playing against his former team and is hoping he can score a goal.

“I played 160 games for Galatasaray. If you look the Super Lig, in the past four seasons, there isn’t a winger who has played more games, scored more goals and made more assists than me, at least I don’t think there is. Maybe there are 3-5. If you play at a club for three or four years, they would offer you a contract extension. But nothing like that happened. In four seasons, I won 6 cups. Good thing I played,” he said as he threw a dig at his previous employers.

“Now, it’s Goztepe’s time. I will earn my money here. Even if I play against Galatasaray, I will do my best. If I’m on the pitch, hopefully I can score one or two goals,” he added.

The German-born player recently moved to the Izmir club after being released by Galatasaray earlier this month.
