Egemen Korkmaz: Our goal is to stay in the league

Erzurumspor’s new transfer Egemen Korkmaz spoke of his club’s objective this season; to avoid relegation.

Experienced centre-back Egemen Korkmaz spoke to reporters ahead of Erzurumspor’s first Super Lig game this weekend, laying out his team’s objective this season.

“We have a new team, new friends and we are still adapting to the city. We will learn to play together as a team. These are important things. Once we adapt, things will be better and the goals may change, of course. But for now, we want to make a good start.”

“Right now, our goal is to stay in the league and find our place. We want to move up as high as possible but of course, we want to avoid relegation first,” the 35-year-old said.

With the exception of Galatasaray, Egemen has played for Turkey’s biggest clubs during his long career – Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Trabzonspor, Bursaspor, and Istanbul Basaksehir.
