Malatyaspor sell Azubuike for €2m to Pyramids FC

Okechukwu Azubuike has left Turkey to continue his career in Egypt.

Super Lig club Malatyaspor have sold their midfielder Okechukwu Azubuike to Egyptian outfit Pyramids FC for €2 million.

The deal sees the Turkish club make a major profit from the transfer, considering they signed the 21-year-old for €200,000 from Nigerian club Bayelsa back in the summer of 2015.

Malatyaspor’s vice president Erdal Gunduz spoke briefly of the transfer, suggesting the fee could have been higher if he played for a bigger team.

“The transfer is a very good deal for us. It will help us a lot. We sold the player for much, much more than we signed him for. If Azubuike played for bigger teams, his fee would have been no less than €5-6 million,” he said.
