Cocu: We should be ashamed

The Dutch coach had no excuses after seeing his team defeated yet again this season.

After suffering yet another loss this season, Fenerbahce have no one else to blame but themselves. Club boss Phillip Cocu spoke to reporters after the end of the game and spoke candidly about his team’s performance.

“I don’t want to say too much about this game. We put in a performance we should be ashamed of. We went ahead twice but gave our opponents the points. We lost because of the our decisions on the field. After two losses, we needed to win tonight. Our fans were behind us, I respect them a lot for that. We couldn’t return the favour by winning, unfortunately,” he said.

The Dutch coach did say he was optimistic moving forward, however, and that they can turn things around with time.

“We realize the position we are in and that we need to fight to get out of this situation. I believe we can get out of this situation. It will not be easy. There are good periods and difficult times in the career of professional football players. We are living in a difficult period now. After the international break, we will adjust our focus to one point all together.”

Fenerbahce have lost 3 of their 4 games so far this season and have just three points after 4 weeks of Super Lig action.
