Loris Karius impressed by Vodafone Park

Besiktas’ new goalkeeper is enjoying life in Istanbul after his recent move.

German goalkeeper Loris Karius spoke to Turkish media about his experience so far in Turkey. He gave some interesting answers to a number of questions.

“All my teammates are helping me adjust. They are very helpful. I feel like I’ve been training here for a long time. In that sense it’s going very well. In the first game, i thought I wasn’t going to concede a goal and win but it wasn’t meant to be. But like I said, things are going well so far.”

“I received a yellow card in my debut. I don’t think it was the right call. When someone throws something, your instinct is to move it off the field, so you can continue the game. When I did that, the referee thought I was wasting time and ended up pulling out the yellow card.”

“I watched a game at Vodafone Park, against Partizan. The atmosphere was incredible. There’s a very strong group of supporters. The stadium is new and very impressive.”

“It’s difficult to talk about yourself but I’ll say this; I consider myself a modern goalkeeper. Meaning, I’m a reliable goalkeeper who can be called upon to clear the ball when necessary.”

“Istanbul, for me, is a very different and new experience. It’s a very big and very beautiful city. The people are very positive. They show their kindness, their respect. These are very nice things.”

“I believe I will learn a lot here and add a lot to the team. I believe I will be a big part of the club. I send my regards to all of our supporters. we are waiting for all of you to be with us in Vodefone Park.”
