Besiktas to renew Senol Gunes’ contract

The Black Eagles will continue onwards with their current coach, the club announced on Wednesday.

Besiktas coach Senol Gunes will be offered a contract extension, the club announced via statement on their official website on Wednesday.

“During today’s Board of Directors meeting, a decision was made to offer a contract extension to our coach Senol Gunes, who’s contract ends in May 2019,” the statement read.

Gunes, whose contract expires in May 2019, has been under heavy criticism from fans due to the team’s inconsistent performances and multiple heavy losses this season, with the latest a 4-1 away loss to Kasimpasa.

Currently, the club are in 7th place with 26 points.

While no further details have been given by the club, talks are expected to commence next month.
