Kudryashov: Fener wanted me but hesitated

The Russian left-back revealed the Yellow Canaries were interested in his services.

Istanbul Basaksehir’s Fyodor Kudryashov spoke to Russian outlet MatchTV where he revealed he was close to signing for Fenerbahce last month.

After parting ways with Rubin Kazan and signing for Istanbul Basaksehir on a free transfer, the 31-year-old claimed Fenerbahce showed an interest in him.

“As far as I know, Fenerbahce were interested in me. But they hesitated. They didn’t make a firm offer. Everything happened on the last day of the transfer window. On January 30 Basaksehir came forward. I jumped on a plane and passed the medical. We spoke about the details of the contract. I signed at the end of the day. The paperwork was finalized 10 minutes before the transfer window closed,” he said.

Kudryashov scored Basaksehir’s only and winning goal against Antalyaspor on Monday, giving his team a vital three points in the title race.

Basaksehir are currently in first place with 48 points.
