Besiktas want Antonio Conte as coach

The Black Eagles have identified a list of coaches they are considering to replacing the outgoing Senol Gunes.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has identified Antonio Conte as the club’s number one priority as they look to rebuild after current coach Senol Gunes announced he will leave the club at the end of the season to take charge of the Turkish national team.

According to reports in Turkey, the Super Lig giants are hoping to have a coach in place in case Gunes decides to leave before then, as rumours about backroom staff differences causing issues between Gunes and Orman continue to gain traction by the day.

Assistant manager Guti Hernandez will be named interim caretaker manager in case Gunes resigns as the club’s administration work to appoint someone permanently.

Sources close to Fikret Orman have confirmed he wants to bring Italian tactician Antonio Conte to Vodafone Park.

Other candidates who are being considered include former Besiktas midfielder Sergen Yalcin and Slaven Bilic who is currently unemployed after being sacked last month by Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ittihad.
