Akhisarspor relegated from Super Lig

Akgio have become the first team to be relegated from the Turkish Super Lig this season.

With just two weeks of fixtures left, the Super Lig has seen its first casualty. Akhisarspor have become the first team to be relegated from the 2018-2019 season of the Turkish Super Lig.

After 32 games, the small club have said goodbye to Turkey’s top flight with 25 points.

The team began the season on the back-foot as they struggled to perform consistently and despite multiple managerial changes, the team never looked they had a chance.

Saturday’s 2-1 loss against Fenerbahce at Ulker Stadium in Istanbul was the final nail in the coffin for last season’s Turkish Cup winners.

Despite their struggles in the league, Akigo managed to get to this season’s Turkish Cup final, yet again, and will line up against Galatasaray for the trophy on May 15.
